Frostings 101: Cream Cheese Frosting Frostings 101: Cream Cheese Frosting Cream cheese frosting is a classic and easy frosting that just about everyone loves. Because it’s made with mostly cream cheese, it’s a softer frosting that isn’t the best for piping or fancy decorations. We love this icing with carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes, but it also pairs beautifully with chocolate cake, spice cake, red wine chocolate cupcakes, and hummingbird cake.
